Hello, and welcome to MelindaIsaacs.com, the website and blog of fine artist Melinda Isaacs. Thank you for taking the time to drop by my little corner of the internet, I really appreciate it! I’ve been active in the internet world for a long time and I realized that I haven’t blogged in quite a while. So, please allow me to reintroduce myself.
About the Artist
My name is Melinda Isaacs. I’m a fine artist residing in Eastern Ohio with my husband-to-be, our ‘itty-bitty-kitty-committee’, and the newest addition to our family, our hedgehog. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, & Planning in April 2016 with my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree.
If you’ve been to MelindaIsaacs.com before, you’ll notice a huge change in the website. Thanks to my great friend Ashley Gartland, I was able to find clarity and shift my focus back to fine art. Having been a fine artist for most of my life, it only makes sense to move back to my main passion. Not to mention, I can support my work much easier this way. 🙂
About My Work
In the broader field of my current artistic practice, I work primarily as an oil painter who strives to rekindle the imagination in my viewers to help them rediscover their sense of wonder. At the core, my paintings focus on mythical figures that exist in an invented environment. They attempt to grapple with the ideas of fantasy versus reality; organic versus artificial; and idolization versus devaluation.
More often than not, my paintings involve the creation of dynamic characters, otherworldly places, and imaginative scenarios that focus on the escape from reality. It becomes a window into another world where the viewer can interact with it on a deeper level.
To put it simply, I’m an artist, I love the creative process and I find value in the mistakes, happy accidents and learning curves that lead to a beautiful piece of art. I also find it a shame that this experience isn’t usually shared outside of the studio. The purpose of this website (and blog) is to allow you to explore my work behind the scenes with photos of works in progress, access documentation upcoming Call for Artists/Entries, and get to know me on a more personal level. I won’t guarantee that my posting will be daily, but I will post at least once a week or when I have something exciting and/or interesting to show you!
So…what’s next?
I’m currently working on a few large scale pieces, something which I am beyond excited about. Sadly, it’s been over a year since I have touched a paintbrush. That being said, I’m fixing that and will begin painting again once a couple of sketches have been finalized. I intend on documenting my process and will hopefully be able to do a timelapse on a couple of paintings. This should give greater insight into how I work, and will allow you to see how a piece evolves. Exciting stuff!
In the meantime, please feel free to peruse my portfolio or get in touch!
